J. Mendel

I was never a fan of J. Mendel, mainly because of the use, overuse, of fur and we all know I am an anti-furist, however, the spring 2008 collection was another breathtaking vision for my eyes. Apart from the structured and very feminine sophisticated tailored pieces, the evening gowns were the true highlight of the show. In pleated, draped, smocked and tucked lush silks in punchy brights and demure shades, the evening gowns, as indicated in the show notes, had that easy elegance with an undeniable red carpet appeal. I now have a new appreciation for the label.
