As reported by style.com, the Y-3 show was held amidst a "glacial installation” - a 230-foot wall of melting ice. Last year it was rain showers, this year the rain has froze and has begun to melt...hmm...is there a underlying message here. The collection was a typical Yohji Yamamoto fare - exaggerated bagginess, draping, shocking plaids (who would really wear his opening show look?) but all the little details, like the functional zippers, Adidas stripes and puff sleeves make Yamamoto, Yamamoto. His shows are always inspiring in the most unconventional way.
