NY FW Fall 2008: Marc Jacobs

How could I end off New York fashion week without mentioning the king? I think that this season's influence came from a very different source than last season or the season before that. Like I mentioned in a previous post Jacobs' Tony Montana-inspired makeover did play a part in the inspiration for fall as you see the strong '80s references -the boxy silhouettes, slouchy pants, mock neck sweaters, and headbands. Despite all the slightly exaggerated references from the past I loved the show. I really felt like he was talking to the lady and not the girl. It was very much a simple collection; it was calm, slightly glamorous and casual, exactly as Jacobs described his inspiration to style.com.
